Grade Level Information
Carolina International School provides the full K-12 educational spectrum. K-4 is considered elementary school, middle school is grades 5-8, and high school is grades 9-12.
CIS prides itself on treating students as individuals and thus we differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessment according to student learning styles, ability/readiness levels and personal interests. We also provide support for students in various ways, including those ready for accelerated learning, those identified in need of assistance to succeed academically, emotionally and socially, and those who are not yet proficient in English. CIS follows the Common Core Curriculum with the appropriate measure of academic performance for Beginning of Year, End of Year and End of Grade benchmarking.
From Kindergarten through 12th grade, CIS offers classes that provide exposure to multidisciplinary and cultural studies through the Essentials Enrichment programs. These serve to deepen the learning experience and connect the fundamental information learned in other classes to the world around us. Students rotate among the Essentials classes each week throughout the year.
For more information, please contact Ms. Donna Harkey, K-12 Principal.
