The Annual Fund is an organized effort to obtain gifts on a yearly basis to support, at least in part, general operations of a nonprofit organization such as CIS. Annual gifts are usually unrestricted income. Funds are typically raised through mail or direct solicitation efforts.

At Carolina International School we depend to a small degree (roughly 3% of our overall operating budget) on Annual Fund contributions to 'make ends meet'. Without such contributions we would have to make some cuts in our operating expenses that we prefer not to make. Total annual ontributions in excess of 3% of our operating budget allow us to do even more than we had planned for relative to the education of our students.

The reason, more than anything else, that our normal revenue does not fully cover all our expenses is that charter schools are underfunded relative to regular public schools. This is true in two ways:

We also use the overall percent of parent and employee contributions in solicitations we make of outside contributors. These potential outside contributors are more likely to be willing to contribute to our school if we can show a high percentage of participatory contributions by our parents and employees. Thus, it's just as important to make a contribution per se as it is to give according to one's means. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE, and you may use the 'Support Us' button here to do so if you wish.

Please note that we are a 501c3 non-profit organization and thus all donations are tex deductible. Also, ask your employer if matching contributions are offered for a non-profit organization such as ours; many employers do so.

Please click here for our Annual Report: CIS Annual Report: 2015-16 & 2014-15. It details our fundraising efforts for the Annual Fund Drive we held this past school year (2015-16) to help offset some of the school's day-to-day operating costs, and details as well a similar effort we actually began in the 2nd semester of the 2014-15 school year. We hope that these efforts have provided a needed foundation for fundraising efforts we shall undertake this year to raise Capital Campaign funds to build additional needed classrooms, enough of which built will then also allow us to free up our 'gym' to be a gym!

Yoiu shall be hearing more about this Capital Campaign effort in the near future.

Sincerely,

The CIS Development Committee of the Board of Directors

Would you like to sponsor your country's flag?

Flags are a representation of belonging to a community or nation and that individuals that make up this community share the same beliefs, goals, and traditions. Carolina International School (CIS)  is comprised of students and families from the various countries of the world. We value diversity, which means that we recognize differences between people and acknowledge that these differences are a valued asset. There are several different countries that are represented among our families and community at CIS.

Multicultural education is an important component of valuing diversity. It respects diversity while teaching our students to become effective and participating members of the culture they represent, by bringing these values, awareness, and thoughts to our larger community.

Our program respects individuality while promoting respect for others. It emphasizes the contributions of the various groups that make up the population of the world, that are represented at CIS. It emphasizes the importance of our community members sharing their stories and learning from the stories of others. This approach seeks to increase diversity awareness, sensitivities, and skills so that young people are prepared to take positive action with their peers. By building positive peer influence, young people begin to change negative attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors about diversity.

Your family can help lead our international initiatives by becoming a flag sponsor. For $500 you can sponsor a flag for the 2015-2016 school year. This sponsorship includes:

  • Name recognition on the CIS website
  • Name displayed  next to the flag.

The Corporate Partnership program is dedicated to featuring individuals, businesses, and companies that support students attending Carolina International School through a unique giving program. Partners enjoy the exclusive benefit of sharing their products and services with our parents, students, and supporters.

This is an opportunity for Carolina International School to connect with our community. We would like to help you make your business a success with the support of our students, parents, and our charter school community.

We are dedicated to our partners and understand the link between business and education. Charter schools offer alternative means of academic success for students. Businesses look to support education when they see a value, and know that their contribution is one that can impact individuals and close the funding gap between what is needed and what is expected.
